Monday

ART

Beginning Drawing Workshop Fee $90                     Matt Whitehead

Children will fall in love with drawing as they use pencils, crayons, and markers to learn basic drawing principles. The students will encounter a wide variety of drawing experience from music inspired art to observing live animals.

Beginning Painting Workshop Fee $90                      Matt Whitehead

Students will explore colors, shapes, and design while learning a variety of painting techniques. This is a great follow-up class to Beginning drawing!

Master Mimics Workshop Fee $90                               Matt Whitehead

Your budding artist will learn about some of the great artists of the world by experimenting with their styles. Some of the artists will include Van Gogh, Mondrian, O’keefe, Chagall, Seurat, Warhol, and more!

Mirroring Masters Workshop Fee $90                       Matt Whitehead

Step into the minds of the masters and learn the techniques that made them famous. Explore the worlds of Monet, Picasso, and many more as you create your own works of art.

MUSIC

Voice Studio Workshop Fee $90                                     Sueli Cavalcanti

Voice classes are designed for the young singer looking to gain experience and basic technique. A wide-ranging repertoire will be studied in this class which focuses on the fundamentals of breathing, vowel placement, sight reading and ear training.

For those students with prior voice or choral training looking to advance their vocal skills.


Tuesday


COMMUNITY THEATRE

Acting and Improvisation Workshop Fee $90        Dr. William Eyerly
grades 2nd – 5th                     4:15 – 5:00 pm                     Mad Hatters Cafe – HIGH SPRINGS
This intensive workshop features an introduction to the revolutionary Mosaic Acting System. Dr. Eyerly is the only certified teacher of this system in the southeastern U.S. The class will include acting theory applied to short plays,monologues and lots of improv games.

Act Up Teen Drama Workshop Fee $99                      Dr. William Eyerly
Middle/high school         5:00 – 6:00 pm                          Mad Hatters Cafe – HIGH SPRINGS
The Act up! ensemble features intensive improv workshops as well as acting for stage and film. Students will have the opportunity to film screen tests and the best will be selected for submission to casting directors for Nickelodeon.


ART

Print-A-Paint Workshop Fee $90                                   Matt Whitehead

Kids will be using painting and printmaking, two mediums which encourage them to stretch their creativity. We’ll be printing with found objects as well as bars of soap, erasers, melted crayons, vegetables and perhaps the simplest tool of all, our fingers!! We will also be exploring patterns, shapes, and textures through various painting techniques. By merging printmaking and drawing, our workshop will be filled with spontaneous works of art.

Papier-Mache Workshop Fee $90                                  Matt Whitehead

Paper and paste are all you will need in exploring and creating with this outstanding material. Whether it be small, crazy, functional or not, the things that can be made with papier-mache are endless. Another great characteristic is that it is a great way to recycle. We will be creative with our materials and use items that might otherwise end in the garbage. The finished pieces will not only open our minds to inventive ways of viewing every day things but we can enjoy them around us as our own creations.

Civilizations have been making books for thousands of years. They can be a place to record feelings and thoughts or to share ideas. They can be as tiny as your pinkie or as big as a sofa and can be round, oval, or even a puzzle. We will spend our time exploring various book shapes, such as: accordion, window, flag, wagon and will cut, draw, glue, and sew our time away!

ART

Great class for the budding artist who can’t get enough of painting. Follow along with the teacher as you create your own masterpiece using vivid colors and learn about brushes and paint mixing.

Ecology Crafts For Kids Workshop Fee $90         Matt Whitehead

Use recycled, reused, or materials that can be found in nature, without harming our environment. By studying plants and animal (including human) interaction we can create art that can harmoniously exist in nature.

Paper Crafts Workshop Fee $90                                 Matt Whitehead

In this class we will be making objects out of paper by playing around with various folding and mixing techniques. this would include origami, jewelry, baskets, cards, shadow puppets, glow lamps, dolls, boxes, boats, kites…and lots more! Join us in expanding our imagination by working with a very simple material that has huge potential.

MUSIC

Beginning Drum Set & Percussion Workshop Fee $110         Tobin Wagstaff

Learn drums from the pros at Studio Percussion. This workshop will feature an introduction to drums and percussion focusing on the basic drum set. Bring your own sticks. Workshop fee includes music book.

Piano Adventurer Workshop Fee $90                        Dr. Michael Deall

4:30 – 5:15 pm Littlewood Music Room
Play games and break out the markers! This class is designed for the younger beginner. Students will be introduced to rhythms, dynamics, technique and key names while playing a variety of songs. Must purchase and bring My First Piano adventure lesson Book a and My First Piano adventure writing Book a by Nancy and Randell Faber back to class.

Beginning Piano Workshop Fee $90                           Dr. Michael Deall

An introduction to the piano for those just starting out. Students will be introduced to basic rhythms, keyboard technique, and treble and bass clef note reading. Must purchase and  bring the (primer level) Piano adventures Theory Book and the Piano adventures lesson Book by Nancy and Randell Faber to class.

For the budding artist. Learn to sketch wildlife in their natural surroundings using a variety of source material, with colored pencils.

Learn to draw some of the most endearing animal figures-horses, dogs, cats and wild animals! Use colored pencils to shape and shade, with special attention to perspective and bringing sparkle to the eyes.

A master drawing class for the more advanced student will teach more advanced drawing skills using a variety of animals as subjects. Class will demonstrate the elements and principles of art.

Fun costumes, magical stories and games galore are all part of this wonderful introduction to the stage.  Budding actors create their own characters from folk and fairy tales to create imaginative stories that are uniquely their own.

Take your acting to a whole new level with improv skits, games, and warm-ups from the world of theatre. Every class is like creating a new show and the laughs just keep coming as actors work out new scenes using zany characters and situations.

Explore the world’s best known playwright, William Shakespeare in this exciting class. Students will be working on some of Shakespeare’s most famous works including “Hamlet,” “Macbeth,” “Romeo and Juliet,” and “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.”


WRITING

Use exciting games and other activities to take your writing to a whole new level.  Explore different kinds of fiction: whether you like sci-fi or fantasy, mystery or action/ adventure stories, this is the class for you.


ART

Learn about the history of art from cultures all around the world. Students will create pottery, handmade paper, mosaics and more.

younger children will enjoy mashing and molding to make their slab of clay come to life! Children will be proud to display their final, painted creations in this class!

This new and exciting class offered by studio percussion will help your young musician learn the basics and fundamentals of playing the guitar. Studio Percussion
will provide guitars for students to use during class time, so purchasing a guitar for home use is optional!

Instruction by Bruce Sutherland

Mr. Sutherland has worked with Domex Computer Services since 1987. He has over 20 years of experience designing installing and supporting Internet Systems, Unix, Linux, Novell and Microsoft Networks, and developing code in a variety of programming languages. Principal languages used include: Microsoft Visual Basic, Perl, Python and Shell Scripting. Bruce is also a certified Novell Network Engineer (CNE).
