2 Week Littlewood   -  PERFORMANCE ART  – Workshops

Special 2-Week Littlewood Performance Art Workshops

At Littlewood Elementary School, 812 NW 34th Street Monday through Thursday from 1:15 – 3:30 PM

Begins  Wednesday June 16th and Ends on Tuesday, June 29th

Final performance at 2:15 PM in the Terrell Performance/Multipurpose Room.


Individual Workshop Fee: $99 per class

Undersea Adventure for Ages 4 – 6

Octopus’ Garden Workshop Fee $99   –   With Sarah Ingley, Lindsey Kinard, Garret Strobel, and other GACA artists and staff

Meet the first day in the Littlewood Multipurpose Room: Oscar the Octopus is throwing a party and he’s inviting all his good friends from the coral reef. Everyone, that is, except Shemp the Shark and his toothy friends. Will they crash the party anyway? The kids decide as they help write the play, and create the set, props and costumes as they prepare for a dynamic final performance on the Littlewood stage June 29th.

Undersea Adventure for Ages 7 – 12

Shark Reef Showdown Workshop Fee $99  –   With Sarah Ingley, Lindsey Kinard, Garret Strobel, and other GACA artists and staff

Meet the first day in the Littlewood Multipurpose Room: The shark is perhaps the most misunderstood creature in the ocean. He’s got a nasty reputation as a killing machine. But is that all there is to the story? Can’t all the creatures of the reef just get along? The kids decide when they create a fabulous undersea world, building sets, props, and costumes while they rehearse for a fun-filled final show on June 29th. Meets Monday through Thursday from 1:15 – 3:30 PM Begins Wednesday June 30th and Ends on Tuesday, July 13th with a final performance at 2:15 PM in the Terrell Performance/Multipurpose Room.

Safari Adventure for Ages 4 – 6

Zensational Zebras Workshop Fee $99 –   With Sarah Ingley, Lindsey Kinard, Garret Strobel, and other GACA artists and staff

Meet the first day in the Littlewood Multipurpose Room: Join the Zebras as they gather around the watering hole to discuss the newest member of the herd – a Zebra that instead of stripes (GASP!) is covered in polka dots! Is this spotted specimen really a zebra or is he a spy for the lions, hyenas or other predators. The kids help write and act the story and create the scenery and costumes while they learn about African animals on the way to a July 13th performance.

Safari Adventure for Ages 7 – 12

Sunset on the Serengeti Workshop Fee $99   –   With Sarah Ingley, Lindsey Kinard, Garret Strobel, and other GACA artists and staff

Meet the first day in the Littlewood Multipurpose Room: When the sun goes down the predators come out on the Serengeti. It will take a combination of strength and smarts to survive the night. The students will embark on an imaginative safari as they re-create the African plains on the Littlewood stage and present an original performance for family and friends on July 13th.

Piano Adventurer Workshop Fee $55 3:30 – 4:15 (FULL) OR    4:15 to 5:00 Dr. Michael Deall

Ages 4-6 / Littlewood Music Room

Play games and break out the markers! This class is designed for the younger beginner. Students will be introduced to rhythms, dynamics, technique and key names while playing a variety of songs. Must purchase AND bring My First Piano Adventure Lesson Book A and My First Piano Adventure Writing Book A by Nancy and Randell Faber to class.

Living Art - Workshop Fee $45 3:30 to 4:15 pm Garrett Strobel

Ages 4-6  / Littlewood Art Room

The art made in this class will not be forgotten forever in a drawer! The children will paint, collage, build, draw and use all kinds of media to create objects that will be a blast to use and reuse at home with friends and family!

Designing Minds – Workshop Fee $45 4:15-5pm Garrett Strobel

Ages 7 – 12  / Littlewood Art Room

In this class the older kids will take the bold step from simply making art to creating with a whole new dimension in mind: Making something that has a function! This workshop will take kids on an exhilarating journey of creativity in all varieties of artistic media.

Pre-Ballet – Workshop Fee $45 3:30 to 4:15 pm Sarah Ingley

Ages 4-6  / Littlewood Multipurpose Room

For new or returning students, this is a fun intro to the world of ballet. The class includes fun dance games, and dance dress-up, while building flexibility and coordination.

Dance Around the World – Workshop Fee $45 4:15 to 5:00 pm Sarah Ingley

Ages 7-12  /  Littlewood Multipurpose Room

Learn authentic Irish, Scottish, West African, Greek, Indian, and Cuban traditional group dances. The classes will wrap up with some American swing dance!

Acting & Improv – Workshop Fee $45 3:30 to 4:15 pm Lindsey Kinard

More fun acting games and improv skits than you can imagine! Every class is like creating a new show and the laughs just keep coming as actors work out new scenes using zany characters and situations.

Folklore Factory – Workshop Fee $45 4:15 to 5:00 pm Lindsey Kinard

Ages 4-6 /  Littlewood Classroom

Budding actors create their own characters from folk and fairy tales using games and guided stories to create imaginative scenes. Lots of fun games, too!

Ecology Crafts for Kids – Workshop Fee $45 3:30 to 4:15 pm Chisum Justus

Ages 7-12  / Littlewood Art Room

Use recycled, reused, or materials that can be found in nature, without harming our environment. By studying plants and animal (including human) interaction we can create art that can harmoniously exist in nature.

Art Sparks – Workshop Fee $45 4:15 to 5:00pm Chisum Justus

Ages 4-6  / Littlewood Art Room

Great class for the budding artist loves painting. Follow along with the teacher to create your own masterpiece and learn about brushes and paint mixing.

Beginning Piano – Workshop Fee $55 Tu & Th 3:30 – 4:15 OR 4:15 to 5:00

An introduction to the piano for those just starting out. Students will be introduced to basic rhythms, keyboard technique, and treble and bass clef note reading. Must purchase and bring the (Primer Level) Piano Adventures Theory Book and the Piano Adventures Lesson Book by Nancy and Randell Faber to class.

Art Evolution – Workshop Fee $45 Tu & Th 3:30 – 4:15

Garrett Strobel Ages 4 – 6 / Littlewood Art Room

Because art, just like us, has changed over the years! Ms. Susan will introduce a new era in each class, from prehistoric times to contemporary, with every important step in between! Students learn while having loads of fun experimenting with everything from paint and pastels to plaster and clay to imitate the masters of every age.

World of Art – Workshop Fee $45 Tu & Th 4:15 – 5:00

What could be more exciting than discovering a new culture? And what better way than to do it through art? Kids will expand their understanding of the world by experiencing and creating art of a different culture in each class. Come experiment in various media and techniques, learning from the cultures that have shaped the world we know and the art we love!

Hip-Hop & Modern Dance – Workshop Fee $45 Tu & Th 3:30 – 4:15

This class is all about learning the latest dance moves while grooving to some of your favorite tunes. Whether you are a beginner just learning the fundamentals or ready for your own video, this class has something for you.

Fantasy Workshop – Workshop Fee $45 Tu & Th 4:15 – 5:00

Sarah Ingley Ages 4 – 6 /  Littlewood Multipurpose Room

Drama for the very young, with costumes, scenery, and a performance every class! Students create their own character, and then an original script and no-stress “production” is created each day.

Creative Writing – Workshop Fee $45 Tu & Th 4:15 – 5:00

Lindsey Kinard Ages 7 – 12 / Littlewood Classroom

Use exciting games and other activities to take your writing to a whole new level this summer. Explore different fiction: whether you like sci-fi or fantasy, mystery or action/adventure stories, this is the class for you.

Intro to Drama – Workshop Fee $45 Tu & Th 3:30 – 4:15

Lindsey Kinard Ages 4 – 6  / Littlewood Classroom

For the kid with a vivid imagination. Students will go along on a wild journey that will transform their favorite stories from classic literature into real stories on-stage. Students will develop as young actors in a very short span of time.

Art Explorations – Workshop Fee $45 Tu & Th 4:15 – 5:00

Chisum Justus Ages 4 – 6 / Littlewood Art Room

This fun filled class will ignite the younger students’ interest in art while the budding artists explore various art media such as painting, drawing, clay, and summer crafts!

Art Factory: in 3-D! – Workshop Fee (FULL) $45 Tu & Th 3:30 – 4:15

Chisum Justus Ages 7 – 12  / Littlewood Art Room

The older kids will create 3-D works of art from paper mache, clay, and other media. Students will also learn to paint and decorate their projects.
