Take your acting to a whole new level with improv skits, games, and warm-ups from the world of theatre. Every class is like creating a new show and the laughs just keep coming as

Piano Adventurer

Ages 4-5 (Kindergarden)

Play games, act out songs and join in the rhythm band! Along with a focus on music readiness skills and beginning piano technique, children will learn to identify rhythm notes, use keyboard pictures to play songs and be introduced to beginning keyboard concepts. Bring Bastens' Piano Party Book a to class.

An introduction to the piano for those just starting out. Students will learn key names, explore basic rhythms and get an orientation to the musical staff and note reading. Must bring both the (Primer Level) Piano Adventures Theory Book and the Piano Adventures Lesson Book by Nancy and Randell Faber to class.

Children will fall in love with drawing as they use pencils, crayons, and markers to learn basic drawing techniques. The students will get to draw on a variety of subjects including music inspired art and even observing live animals.

Whether children’s book or comic book illustrators and artists or the old masters, students will learn by studying the techniques of the experts. Each class will focus on a different artist and style and students will create their own masterpieces by painting and drawing, etc.

Create 3-D works of art from clay using themes inspired from outer space and under the sea. Students will also learn to dry, glaze and paint their clay projects.

Hey kids, is sitting in front of the TV all day long what you have planned for your summer? Why not learn how to BE the entertainment? In this class, young actors will get all of the fundamentals: short skits and plays, scene work with partners, miming, and (of course) lots of improvisation games.

For the kid with a vivid imagination. Students will go along with Mr. Farzad for a wild journey that will transform their favorite stories from classic literature into real stories on-stage. Students will develop as young actors in a very short span.

Yoga for Everyone!

Drama & Musical Theatre Camps

Choose from two age groups Grades 2 - 5 or Middle & High School
Attendance is Limited to 10-12 Students Per Week!

ACT FAST! This is Alachua County's most dynamic and PERSONALIZED summer drama experience. GACA has received national recognition for this program where EVERYONE is a STAR because the groups are kept small. Actors will work as an ensemble to produce a new original musical play each week featuring a collage of songs from well-known Broadway shows. The actors also produce their own scenes and monologues as well as improv skits. Everything is performed in a Friday night show on the Acrosstown main stage before a packed house. Each show is free and open to the public. Directed by Dr. William Eyerly and featuring guest artists, including Buchholz High School Drama Instructor Ted Lewis, Dance Instruction & Choreography by Jen Worthington, Guest Instructor & UF Professor Sid Homan, and many more!

Each Week Includes Workshops in: Acting Theory, Improv and Theatre Games, Monologues, Audition Techniques, Vocal Performance, Musical Theatre Dance, AND MUCH MORE!

EACH WEEK CONCLUDES WITH A 7 PM PERFORMANCE ON THE ACROSSTOWN MAIN STAGE! A BRAND NEW SHOW EVERY WEEK!

Choose from: June 5-9, 12-16, 19-23, 26-31, July 10-14, 17-21, 24-28, or July 31-August 4.

Camps are just $145 a week ($135 per week for 2 or more weeks) and include ALL MATERIALS AND AN AFTERNOON SNACK & DRINK! Students should bring their own bagged lunch.

Ages 4 – 6

Rocket to Mars - Workshop Fee $95 / Kathy Stark, Farzad Safi, Sarah Ingley, Laura Richards, and the rest of the GACA staff. Meet First Day in Littlewood Multipurpose Room - It’s an outer space adventure to the mysterious red planet and beyond. Explore our solar system in your own rocket and create your own universe on stage using your own art projects for sets and costumes. Students will work on presenting a final performance on the Littlewood stage with a
script they help write and act for the June 15th show.


Ages 7 - 10

Inter-Galactic Invaders - Workshop Fee $95 / Kathy Stark, Farzad Safi, Sarah Ingley, Laura Richards, and the rest of the GACA staff. Meet First Day in Littlewood Multipurpose Room - You must save the Earth from invaders outside our solar system using your imagination and the art projects you create. Help write a script that will thrill your parents and friends when you perform on the Littlewood stage in a grand finale. You make the costumes and props and put it all together on stage June 15th

The Octopus’ Garden - Workshop Fee $95 / Kathy Stark, Farzad Safi, Sarah Ingley, Laura Richards, and the rest of the GACA staff. Meet First Day in Littlewood Multipurpose Room - Join us under the sea for an adventure that will take you deep under the ocean waves where you’ll meet all kinds of exciting creatures. Help create a story and then head into the art room to create the set, costumes and props. Take on a human or ocean character and get set to live the
adventure on the Littlewood stage for parents and friends on June 29th.

Ages 7 - 10

Shark Attack - Workshop Fee $95 / Kathy Stark, Farzad Safi, Sarah Ingley, Laura Richards, and the rest of the GACA staff. Meet First Day in Littlewood Multipurpose Room - The older kids explore some of the oceans most dangerous creatures while adding their ideas to the script for the show. Outrageous sets and props will be constructed in the art room while crazy undersea characters will be created in the multipurpose room as the kids get ready for the big performance on June 29th.

This YEAR ROUND COURSE meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:00pm to 7:00pm in the Littlewood multipurpose room. Sign up for one month, get the kids started on homework, and join us for an hour of fast paced fitness fun. Get in shape now.
